68. BOOKS ARE MAGIC
May 6, 2026
Listened to Lauren Groff speak at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church on April 20th. She said all the things I wanted to hear. For example, how stories are told in Greek mythology with humans, the Gods, and the reader in mind. The reader, of course, being the highest vantage point. (For the author of Fates and Furies, this makes sense to me.) She also shared her writing process. Not thinking about the reader initially and treating the work like it’s its own entity, like a hologram. Finally, she spoke highly of poets—all of them.
Side note: The event was hosted by Books Are Magic. That morning, I saw a receipt from the store on the street.
