76. OZ

Around here, Dorothy is a Cavalier. A King Charles Spaniel. And the Wizard of Oz is a moving company. The truck can be seen at the beginning of the month. Or the middle, when it’s time for a move. 

I’ve deliberated for years when it would be my turn to move. How and why I realized that I was meant to stay—at least for the time being—is a long-winded story. It’s easy to get lost in the details. So, let’s fast-forward to this morning. For the first time, I saw “Oz” in the Zipcar logo. I didn’t know what to do with that information then, except to file it away. Come evening, I thought about it again and said to myself, “Oz is anywhere you want it to be. It’s not a real destination—unless, you want it to be.”
